Recurring Invoices

Billing that repeats without repeating the work.

For charges that repeat, like a monthly retainer or weekly equipment hire, turn an invoice you've already written into a recurring one, and a draft is created for you each time it falls due.

Get started
  • Weekly, monthly or quarterly
  • All the items and tax of the invoice it came from
  • Ends on a date or after a number of invoices

How it works

Set it once.

  1. 1

    Make it recurring

Open an invoice and choose Make recurring. Pick how often it repeats, the first date, and when it should stop.

  2. 2

A draft appears on the day

On each date a draft invoice is created with the same client, items, tax, notes and terms, and whoever set it up is notified.

  3. 3

    Approve, and it's sent

The draft goes through your normal invoice approval. Send it yourself, or let it email the client as soon as it's approved.

The schedule

Simple on purpose.

Weekly, monthly or quarterly

Pick how often the charge repeats. A charge on the 31st bills on the last day of shorter months.

Ends when you say

Stop after a date or a number of invoices, or keep it going until you pause it.

Pause any time

Pause it to stop new drafts; resuming picks up from the next date rather than billing every missed period.

Traceable

Every invoice it drafts links back to it, and it lists every invoice it has drafted.

Edit the items any time

Change the items and tax with the same editor as an invoice; the next draft picks it up.

Payment links

Any invoice can have a payment link where the client uploads proof of payment. There's no live payment gateway.

Worth knowing

Built for repeating charges.

  • Generated invoices are drafts and go through approval. Nothing reaches a client before it's approved.
  • Tax rates are taken as they stand on the day each invoice is drafted.
